About Program
The BS Economics is a four-year degree program structured over eight semesters and designed to provide students with a broad understanding of economics and related social sciences. The program develops knowledge of economic theory, applied economics, public policy, data analysis, markets, institutions, and the economic issues that influence Pakistan and the wider global economy.
Students are encouraged to develop curiosity, analytical thinking, and the ability to examine economic problems through evidence and research. The program prepares graduates for opportunities in public and private organizations, business and corporate consultancy, public policy, data analysis, market research, economic research, and other related professional fields.
The degree also provides a strong academic foundation for students who wish to continue toward advanced study and research in Economics and related disciplines.
Objectives
- Promote high standards of education, teaching, and research in Economics.
- Provide opportunities for students to strengthen their academic qualifications and continue higher education in Economics.
- Develop a sound understanding of both theoretical and applied Economics.
- Build students’ ability to become independent learners, researchers, and critical thinkers.
- Enable students to understand major global economic issues and evaluate their implications for Pakistan’s economy.
Eligibility Criteria
- Academic Qualification: Applicants must have completed FA, FSc, or an equivalent qualification with at least 50% aggregate marks.
- Admission Test & Interview: Qualifying the admission test and interview is compulsory. A candidate securing less than 40% marks in the combined test and interview requirement will not be eligible for admission.
- NTS-NAT: Candidates who have secured at least 40% marks in NTS-NAT are also eligible to apply.
